Q. I discovered that I have a fine in my library account that is from an overdue interlibrary loan item. Do I need to pay this or what do I need to do to have it removed?
When a patron’s borrowed ILL material has been overdue for three weeks or more, the patron is blocked from borrowing and a $999 fine is added to their library account as a holding number until an invoice is received from the lending library. Once an invoice is received, the amount is changed to the amount on the invoice.
If you find that you have a fine on your account, whether an invoiced amount or the $999 temporary fee, all you need to do is return the book. Once the book is returned the fine will be removed from your account. If you have lost the book, please contact the ILL department at ilsreq@gcsu.edu and we can determine what the actual fine amount as determined by the lending library will be and send you an invoice, so you can then pay to clear your account.
